Report: Fedor Emelianenko vs Antonio Silva possible for Strikeforce event on Jan. 29

He’s back. Fedor Emelianenko will make his long-awaited return to the cage when he takes on Antonio Silva on the upcoming Strikeforce card set for Jan. 29, according to mixed martial arts Weekly . If the report is true, it will mark the first time “The Last Emperor” will be in action since Fabricio Werdum tapped him in the first round with a triangle back in June. There’s been confusion regarding the status of the Russian Sambo specialist, mainly due to issues with a long re-negotiation of his contract between his management, M-1 Global & Strikeforce. It looks like they’ve finally come to an agreement & it does not involve a rematch with Werdum or an oft-asked for fight with Heavyweight champ Alistair Overeem. Antonio Silva was last seen surviving a first round scare to come back & pound out Mike Kyle at Strikeforce: “Henderson vs Babalu” on Dec. 4. He boasts an outstanding record of 15-2, with his last loss coming at the hands of the same man to famously end Fedor’s run as the superfine in the world.? Is this very good matchmaking? Are you happy with “Bigfoot” getting the next shot against Fedor? The Jan. 29 card is still a rumor at this point & Strikeforce has yet to announce the event. CEO Scott Coker has stated Herschel Walker will also make his return on the card but did not give any indication if his opponent will remain Scott Carson. Also rumored to appear is Welterweight champ Nick Diaz along with his arch nemesis Jason “Mayhem” Miller
